The website HOLODOMOR MONUMENTS IN UKRAINE was created by the Ukrainian Canadian Research & Documentation Centre on the basis of information collected and presented to UCRDC by Vitalіy Ohienko, senior scholar at the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory in Kyiv.

The database of the Holodomor monuments was collected in the regions of Ukraine at the request of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. The following pages of the site show a catalogue of selected images, organized by the oblasts of Ukraine. Careful attention was paid to keep the authenticity of the images, the monument labels and other information.

In summation, the monuments are accepted by people as the remembrance of those who died from famine. The erection of the monuments was mostly spontaneous and took place on the initiative of local communities and was funded by them. Basically, they  are plain wooden crosses with simple labelling: "In memory of our neighbours ─ victims of the famine of 1932-1933."

The website contains 457 photographic images of monuments, organized by 17 oblasts as well as three articles by Vitaly Ogienko listed below.

Вебсайт ПАМ’ЯТНИКИ ЖЕРТВАМ ГОЛОДОМОРУ В УКРАЇНІ був створений Українсько-Канадським Дослідчо - Документаційним Центром на підставі зібраних інформацій переданих до УКДДЦ Віталієм Огієнком  - старшим науковим співробітником Українського Інституту Національної Пам’яті в Києві.

База даних пам’ятників, присвячених Голодомору, була зібрана у регіонах України на прохання Українського Інституту Національної Пам’яті. В наступних сторінках подано каталог вибраних зображень пам’ятників по областям України. Було максимально збережено аутентичність зображень, а також написів і інформацій загалом.

Основний висновок: пам’ятники і ширше вшанування пам’яті жертв Голодомору сприймається в народі як поминання померлих від голоду. Встановлення пам’ятників здебільшого носить стихійних характер та відбувається з ініціативи та за рахунок місцевих громад. В основному це, прості дерев’яні хрести із простими написами “В пам’ять жертв односельчан, що загинули від голодомору 1932-1933 рр.”
